Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo Jasmine Review

Hey lovely ladies,

Yeah!!! It’s time for a liquid lipstick review!!! Haven’t done one of these for a fairly long time!! No?? 😉 This time, it isn’t Lime Crime or Kat Von D liquid lipsticks – this one is from a Korean brand available on Sephora – “Touch in Sol.” They cam into the limelight, thanks to their liquid and glitter eye shadow duos. A couple of them have been reviewed on IMBB earlier (Eldora, Adelio). I picked up their lipstick instead. So, let us find out more about this.

Product Description:
An innovative, dual-ended lipstick, featuring a rich metallic matte shade and matching glitter gloss for a buildable, bold lip look. Create ultra-rich, heavy metal lips with a lush, creamy, matte metallic liquid color on one side and the perfect matching glittering gloss on the other. The hottest trend for lips is high impact metallic color, topped with some serious glitter. Designed with Korean technology to be supremely creamy and super long-wearing, it leaves lips with major metal with color and glitter. Go with sassy shimmer in a single coat of glittering gloss, or go for the bold with a single swipe of the velvety, metallic liquid color. Amp up your look when you layer the complementary glitter on top of the matte metallic gloss for the ultimate, liquid foil lip look. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

Packaging:
The duo comes in a lip gloss packaging with a transparent tube on each end and the middle portion has two separate sponge applicators for each side. It’s a pretty standard packaging – you have seen this fairly commonly in the beauty industry. A lot of companies used this packaging for a liquid lipstick on one side and plain lip gloss on the other. I remember L’Oreal had one of those – like a decade back. The only difference here is the applicator. At first look, it seems like a normal doe-foot applicator, but on looking closer, you see two differences – one, it is designed like a mini shovel which allows you to pick the product onto it. This ensures you don’t need to keep going back for more product. Two, it almost comes to a point at the end. This allows you to get a very precise application around the lip line.

My Experience with Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo Jasmine:

The product consists of two transparent tubes on each end of a wand. One one side is a liquid lipstick – a typical matte formula which dries down totally. The other side is a glossy shimmer product, which is designed to be used as a topper. “Jasmine” is described as “brownie,” which is a bare minimum description about where the product falls in the shade range. Let’s discuss each of the shades individually.

Liquid Lipstick:  The liquid lipstick is a deep, neutral brown in colour with a soft sheen. Also, it has metallic bronze fine micro-glitter in it. Despite being a deep brown shade, the bronze micro-glitters and the in0built sheen elevates it and make it easier to wear. It is complete on its own. It does not really need an accompanying product. It is just like a shimmer finish liquid lipstick. The texture is very thin and watery. This is probably the most liquid lipstick I have come across. It reminds me of Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks, but is even more thinner in consistency. The surprising factor though is that despite it being so thin, the formula is excellent. The lipstick does not settle into fine lines, neither does the micro-glitter. The pigmentation is bang on, quite like the Lime Crime lipsticks. When the shade is so deep, there are higher chances of patchy application; however, this one applies smoothly and evenly. The only issue I have with the formula was that it is a bit drying. It isn’t as bad as Kylie’s liquid lipstick formula but is definitely drying and considering how dry the formula is, it is great to have a glossy product handy.

Glitter Topper: The other side of the product consists of this medium, warm bronze shade with fine pearly sheen and bronze and purple micro-glitters in it. When you swatch it on your hand, it seems like just another gloss – slightly thick and tacky. However, once applied over the dried liquid lipstick, it takes on a life of its own. The effect it imparts is phenomenal. This may have something to do with the way the shine has been built up – a liquid lipstick with a sheen and bronze micro-glitter, topped with the bronze gloss with pearly sheen and multi-coloured glitter particles Together they provide this high dimension shine which looks quite editorial, or something you would see in a lip or eye look being created by Pat McGrath. Just a slight swipe of the gloss on the center of your lips will do the trick. The colours of the liquid lipstick and the glitter are well coordinated, not just in the base product, but also in the micro-glitters which have been added. This is a well thought-out product and combination.

The gloss also makes the lipstick more comfortable to wear. However, being a gloss, it does take down the staying power of the liquid lipstick. On its own, the lipstick gives me about 6-6.5 hours of wear. However, with the gloss on top, the wear time drops down to about 4.5-5 hours. Also, if there is a meal involved, the gloss and the lipstick both will disappear from the centre of the lips.

The product has a synthetic kind of fragrance. I paid attention to it only because I sniffed the product on purpose. I have not noticed it while applying, which means it dissipates fairly quickly.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo Jasmine:

  • A stunning color combination.
  • A very interesting product idea with good execution.
  • The effect of the gloss on the lips is stunning. It has to be seen in person!
  • Good formula which does not get patchy during application or sink into fine lines texture.
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Easy to apply with the applicator – very easy to get clean lines.
  • It applies smoothly and evenly.
  • No feathering or bleeding.
  • Decent packaging.
  • Easy to identify colour from the tube itself.
  • Does not flake.
  • Decent wear time – 6-6.5 hours for the liquid lipstick and 4.5-5 hours with gloss on top. The lower wear time post application of the gloss is understood and does not come as a surprise.
  • Free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
  • The liquid lipstick is drying on lips but with the gloss on top, it is quite comfortable to wear.
  • Wears off in clean lines – does not go patchy.

Cons of Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo Jasmine:

  • The liquid lipstick is drying on its own, not too bad that it starts to flake off.

IMBB Rating:
A 4.5/5 product

This is a very interesting product with a good formula. I feel that it is a well thought out product, which has been given good execution. The product design, the thought which went into the applicator design, the sync in the colours and the micro glitters of the two products, everything has been worked out well from start to finish. Apart from the dryness of the liquid formula which is still not too bad (I am being picky here), there is nothing to fault here, which is surprising because I am literally reviewing two products here and not one!!!
